What are the responsibilities and job description for the Category Lead Professional Services (REMOTE) position at Astrix?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Category Lead to join our growing team. As a Category Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and improve supplier performance within assigned spend categories. This is a direct hire and remote opportunity.
Must haves (non-negotiable):
- Prior experience overseeing Professional Services, Consulting Services, and Contingent Worker spend.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Procurement.
Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy Development & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies based on market analysis, spend analysis, and business needs. This includes identifying sourcing opportunities, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
- Spend Analysis & Reporting: Conduct detailed spend analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities, track savings, and monitor category performance against established KPIs. Prepare regular reports for management on category performance and market trends.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Conduct regular performance reviews, manage contracts, and resolve any performance issues.
- Sourcing & Negotiation: Lead sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, etc.), negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Market Research & Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies within assigned categories. Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and opportunities for innovation.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across various departments (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Marketing) to understand their needs and ensure alignment with category strategies.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and supplier financial instability.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful category strategies that deliver significant cost savings and improve supplier performance.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, 1 and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, e-sourcing platforms).
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and best practices.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are a plus.
