Our global pharmaceutical client is searching for an experienced researcher to design and engineer enzymes and therapeutic proteins/peptides to support drug discovery and development.
Location: Union County, NJ
Duration: 12-month assignment with possibility of extension
Description:
- Manipulate DNA to produce enzymes in cell-free or E. coli systems.
- Set up and execute reactions using enzyme preparations as catalysts.
- Quench reactions and prepare samples for HPLC or MS analysis.
- Analyze experimental data to support the protein-directed evolution process.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize experimental protocols and workflows.
- Maintain accurate documentation of experiments and results.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, engineering, or chemical science with a minimum of 4 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience; or a PhD with 0-1 year of experience in running PCR, enzyme reactions, and/or analytical assays.
- Laboratory Skills: Hands-on experience with laboratory automation techniques, particularly Biomek or Tecan liquid handling systems; familiarity with various analytical methods including HPLC, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, and FPLC.
- Microbial Analysis: Ideally, experience in analyzing biological (microbial) samples by HPLC.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel).

- Chemical and biochemical solution and reaction preparation.
- Understanding of experimental design and data analysis principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
