What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environment, Health and Safety Manager position at Astrix?
We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in the chemical or oil industries, preferably with strong environmental experience, whether through education or hands-on practice. This role involves planning and coordinating environmental, health, and safety programs, applying engineering principles and technology to mitigate occupational hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Compensation: $85,000 - $125,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and enforce programs to monitor, control, and prevent chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Evaluate workplace conditions such as chemical exposure, noise levels, lighting, and ergonomics to address potential health risks.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Analyze occupational and environmental health data to identify areas of improvement.
- Conduct compliance audits and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Develop and deliver training on EHS protocols, waste management, and related topics.
- Oversee hazardous materials communication and maintain safety data sheets.
- Manage EHS equipment procurement and maintenance.
- Supervise external environmental contractors.
- Investigate worker injuries and incidents, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor injury trends and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
- Stay updated on industry developments and regulatory changes.
- Advise management and staff on best practices, protective measures, and compliance strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly manage the EHS team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and practical experience in implementation.
