General Labor Position - Passivation (Sheet Metal Fabrication)

Astro Metal Craft is seeking a general laborer to do a variety of work including passivation which is a chemical process used to reduce the reactivity of materials, especially metals, and enhance their corrosion resistance. This treatment works by forming a protective oxide layer on the metal surface that acts as a barrier, preventing further oxidation and corrosion. Other job duties may include fabricate sheet metal parts according to prints, and work in other areas of shop as needed. Ideal candidate has metal fabrication experience but willing to train the right person that has potential and a good work ethic.

Job Activities & Responsibilities

• Passivation duties
• General laborer duties
• More skilled tasks as listed below with training:
• learn to operate machines
• set up production equipment or machinery
• load or unload sheet metal onto machinery
• use precision measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications
• use hand or power tools, (hand grinder for de-burring)
• count products or materials
• operate forklift to move material, parts, or equipment
• plan or organize work
• work in other areas as needed such as sawing, machining, shipping, receiving etc.

Work Context

This position requires standing and moving around throughout the entire shift, while paying attention to what is going on with the parts and machinery. The passivation process includes working in all types of weather conditions. This position requires being exact or highly accurate, and you may run several machines at one time or multi-tasking and helping out in different departments. Wearing common protective or safety equipment including steel toed boots/shoes, safety glasses, weather gear for cold temperatures and hearing protection is mandatory. This position also requires lifting up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally.

1st Shift 6:00 am to 2:30pm Monday - Friday (open to 4-10's schedule)

Start time flexible

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour
