Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer/Estimator is responsible for aiding, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes while also estimating costs for projects and parts. This role combines technical engineering expertise with cost analysis to ensure efficient production and accurate pricing. This position will collaborate in a team environment to perform tasks in preparation for the fabrication of metal parts and projects.

· Facilitate seamless transition from design through pre-production to fully implemented manufacturing.

· Assist in improving manufacturing processes by utilizing continuous improvement tools and methodologies.

· Responsible for preparing material, labor and outside service portion of quotes using current pricing. Work with production as required to calculate labor portion of quotes. Analyze bill of materials, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to complete quote packages. Layout the production process steps in ERP System to ensure an accurate cost estimate.

Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Engineering:

· Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling/production equipment capabilities, and quality control standards

· Plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.

· Provide engineering support and collaboration with other departments such as Engineering, Drafting, Production in both architectural and industrial

· Review drawings for manufacturability and compliance with customer specifications

· Assist with Drafting and design as needed

· Act as project engineer for jobs requiring engineering support

· Assist in the maintenance and administration of the QMS

· Provide cost estimates for projects

· Develop new tooling and gauging.

· Change management/ECR’s (internal requests)

· Recommend, support and implement improvements, modifications, or additions that will improve work processes and to meet company needs including specifying, ordering, installing and validating new equipment or processes.

· Aid in production transfers from design/detailing to manufacturing.

Estimating:

· Set up estimate in ERP manufacturing software which includes material, labor, outside services and anything related to the cost of the project.

· Analyze, compare and interpret detailed and sometimes poorly defined information; make sound and accurate judgments based on previous knowledge and experience.

· Estimate labor time on each project for the following operations: Engineering, Drafting, Laser, Press Break, Punch Machine, Machining, Weld, Metal finishing and Assembly, etc.

· Assist in identification of and preparation for parts to be sent out for quote.

· Execute material quotation process, as needed, by gathering and analyzing cost data.

· Coordinate with manufacturing to obtain labor estimates, tests, fixtures, prototypes and other costs.

· Identify and work to resolve problems that develop when creating an estimate and recommendations for solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:

· Experience in estimating metal fabrication and understanding OEM pricing structures

· Excellent skill level at reading and understanding Engineering & Architectural prints / drawings.

· Excellent verbal, written communication skills and time management skills

· Self-motivated with high level of professionalism

· Must have knowledge of welding, CNC machining and assembly practices, tools and fixturing (metal preferred).

· Proficiency in 3D CAD Software (preferably Solidworks).

· Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems efficiently; gathers and analyzes information; develops solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason, etc.

· Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; multiple projects, organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans, etc.

· Adaptability – Able to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to handle frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

· 5-8 years experience in manufacturing engineering and cost estimating (preferably metal fabrication)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
