Position Opportunity:
Astro Pak is in search of a motivated Travel Field Technician that are looking for career growth and training opportunity. The Field Technician will perform entry-level Field Services duties to gain knowledge and understanding of cleaning and passivation of vessels and piping. Under supervision, the Associate Field Technician will work together with team members to complete the passivation process in a safe and expedient manner to prevent unnecessary down time for our clients and their operations.
Responsibilities:
- Extensive overnight travel (over 80%) by land and/or air.
- Load/Unload Astro Pak vehicle with proper equipment/chemicals for specific job assignment.
- Ability to drive Astro Pak vehicle(s); including Forklift; Trucks, Sprinter Vans; etc.
- Works with various chemicals including but not limited to citric, caustic and other hazardous chemicals.
- Proper calculation, installation, and operation of Astro Pak equipment.
- Pressure cleaning various machine components.
- Maintains work area clean to CEO (Clean, Efficient, Organized)/5S Standards.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager.
Technical Requirements:
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, documents, correspondence, and memos.
- Effective communication skills which include verbal and written in English.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions – compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Environment/Setting:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Will be exposed to dust, fume, smoke, toxic chemicals and disagreeable odors.
- Noisy conditions periodically.
- Wet or humid conditions (indoors).
- Working on ladders, rooftops, bucket trucks, scaffolding, etc.
- Exposed to vibration (i.e. operating jackhammer, impact wrench).
- Improperly illuminated and confining workspace.

- Ability to operate and lift weight-bearing equipment that can weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear a respirator as needed and/or required based on assignment.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for different chemical processes as necessary.
- Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Education/Experience/Training/Certification/License:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) strongly preferred or equivalent experience required.
- Technical Training or AA Degree preferred.
- Possess a valid Medical DOT Certificate.
- HAZWOPER, OSHA, Confined Space Certifications are preferred.
- Valid class “C” driver’s license and an acceptable driving record required.
