Position Opportunity
The Project Superintendent provides functional management and technical leadership of our on-site fieldwork. A Project Superintendent collaborates with Astro Pak Senior Management Team and the Sales Department in project proposals.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Able to apply project management knowledge and tools such as project schedule, milestones, progress reports and labor & financial tracking to meet project requirements
- Serve as liaison between Astro Pak Senior Management Team and project stakeholders
- Able to partner with Sales Department to assist in developing project proposals including pricing, schedules, flow path creating in Bluebeam, resource allocation and procedure recommendations
- Run shutdowns overseeing multiple crews and circuits, no matter the size of project
- Read P&ID’s and mark up flow paths on them for the crews and the client to review
- Able to perform job walks and conceptualize scope of work to assist in bidding process
- Able to differentiate contracted scope from out of scope (change orders) work and effectively communicate those changes to the client and Operations Manager
- Manages project activities and personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of job, including job personnel and job resources, i.e., propane, waste tank, etc.
- Delegates, sets expectations and monitors activities of technicians per project.
- Demonstrates Leadership qualities to lead crews and effectively communicate with clients, serving as mentor to Associate Technicians and Field Technicians
- Able to execute various processes, i.e., derouge, bio-cleaning, hydro and pneumatic testing and drying systems to dewpoint
- Manage gross profit for job
- Proficiency with pH neutralization, calibration and testing methods
- Facilitate 10 Minute Safety Talks and Monthly Safety Training
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and solve mixture problems
- Works with various chemicals including but not limited to citric, caustic and other hazardous chemicals
- Proper calculation, installation, and operation of Astro Pak equipment; Understand how to set up skid and hoses on various systems to optimize flow and chemical contact
- Understands and can properly complete a Pre-Job Hazard Analysis (PJHA)
- Load/Unload Astro Pak vehicle with proper equipment/chemicals for specific job assignment
- Ability to drive Astro Pak vehicle(s); including Forklift; Trucks, Sprinter Vans; etc.
Other Duties / Responsibilities
- Complete all required Safety Training
- Assist other Technicians, Project Leaders or customers as needed
- Maintains work area clean to CEO (Clean, Efficient, Organized)/5S Standards
- Extensive overnight travel by land and/or air
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Competence to comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager
Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) strongly preferred
- OSHA Certification Required
- Possess a valid Medical DOT Certificate
- Technical Training or AA Degree preferred
- HAZWOPER, Confined Space Certifications are preferred
Related Experience: Minimum 10 years’ chemical cleaning experience including 7 to 10 years’ experience leading remote chemical cleaning projects with demonstrated project management responsibilities.
Overtime: Willing and able to work significant overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call in as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, documents, correspondence, and memos.
- Effective communication skills which include verbal and written in English
- Ability to operate and lift weight-bearing equipment that can weigh up to 50 pounds
- Ability to don proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for different chemical mixing processes
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Should be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Moderate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
License: Possess a valid class “C” driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Will be exposed to dust, fume, smoke, toxic chemicals, and disagreeable odors
- Noisy conditions periodically
