Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our finance team. In this role you would be providing cost accounting procedures, methods, and analysis of cost reports and costing audits that is consistent with company standards. You will work very closely with the production, payroll, and our ERP system to ensure accuracy in our costing processes. To be the most successful in this role you will bring your high attention to detail, significant experience in a manufacturing environment, and excellent communication skills.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze costing records and ensure cost data is allocated correctly.
  • Analyze and expense unique work in process (WIP) projects.
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts relative to inventories and accounts.
  • Produce cost analysis for contract proposals.
  • Perform monthly revenue budget verses actual variance analysis, research and explain large variances.
  • Prepare and implement internal audit procedures; works as liaison with external auditors.
  • Performs quarterly obsolescence reserve analysis, monitoring aging inventory.
  • Inventory forecasting
  • Prepare and implement annual cycle count schedule reset.
  • Ensure compliance with month end cut-off of production, shipping and receiving activities.
  • Monitor and comment on inventory levels and fluctuations by product line.
  • Maintain standard cost schedules.
  • Maintain interaction with all departments on costing and inventory issues.
  • Participate in annual audits and inventories. Assures timely month-end close.
  • Produces weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to analyze data, providing insightful information to finance and operations.
  • Develop new reports as needed to ensure business leaders have the information needed to make good business decisions.
  • Oversee the valuation and reconciliation of inventory, ensuring alignment with production and sales activities.
  • Monitor budget performance, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation or internal and external audits related to cost accounting.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field and four years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in adherence of Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP.
  • Strong Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in cost accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Experience producing monthly reports by pulling, manipulating, and analyzing data from ERP system.
  • Ability to effectively speak and communicate with managers, customers, and employees.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research and analyze various different type of data information.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
