Job Summary: Sport Group America is growing rapidly and the Senior Staff Accountant – M&A Integration role plays a crucial role in the post-acquisition phase, focusing on integrating the financial systems and processes of acquired companies, ensuring a smooth transition, and achieving financial synergies. The role will review and analysis the financial data, financial records, including general ledger entries, and various financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, creating comprehensive financial models, and providing strategic recommendations to management to optimize company performance, including forecasting future trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting key business decisions for the newly acquired companies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Aligning accounting practices, procedures, and controls between new and legacy companies
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Supporting the timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including notes, in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS
- Tracking integration synergies and costs by monitoring and analyzing the financial impact of the integration, identifying cost savings, and optimizing financial performance
- Effectively communicating with stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is informed about the integration process and its financial implications
- Coordinating closely with other departments, such as legal, tax, and operations, to ensure a smooth and successful integration
- Reconciling differences in accounting software, chart of accounts, and internal controls between the new and legacy companies
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data during the integration process
- Recording and updating transactions in the general ledger to maintain accurate financial records
- Reconciling various balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies
- Performing variance analysis, identifying trends, and providing insights to management based on financial data
- Preparing documents and providing information for internal/external audits
- Assisting in budget planning and financial forecasting
- Ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- Internal audit experience helpful
- Prior M&A experience preferably within a Private Equity backed company
- Proven understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial analysis techniques
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to interpret financial data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
- Must be able to travel up to 50%
