Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager – North America is responsible for driving SYNLawn’s strategic growth across the U.S. and Canada by identifying, developing, and onboarding new distributor and reseller partnerships, while supporting the expansion of existing territories. This role is pivotal to SYNLawn’s expansion strategy, blending market insight, strategic sales, and relationship-driven growth to unlock new opportunities. The Business Development Manager reports to the Director of Global Business Development, and closely collaborates with all other departments as needed.
The ideal candidate is a natural connector, who effortlessly builds authentic relationships and has experience in channel sales or distributor management. Must have a strong ability to develop and execute business strategies in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.
General Responsibilities:
- Prospect New Distributors: Identify, Qualify, & Establish initial relationships with new Distributor and Sub-Distributor Prospects to SYNLawn
- Pursue new revenue opportunities: Target strategic categories and brands that align with SYNLawn’s brand values and mission statement.
- Lead deal negotiation: Manage the full sales cycle including initial outreach, pricing, through to contractual negotiations and beyond
- Manage partner relationships: Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned partners to ensure ongoing alignment, satisfaction, and renewal.
- Track performance & ROI: Monitor partner KPIs and develop reporting that highlights results and optimization opportunities.
- Stay on trend: Continuously analyze the synthetic turf, golf, lawn & leisure, and brand landscape for partnership trends and emerging opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Sales as needed in all
Essential Functions:
New Market Expansion
- Map, navigate, and unlock strategic growth markets across the U.S. and Canada.
- Source, vet, and onboard new distributors, sub-distributors, and resellers.
- Present and pitch the SYNLawn business opportunity, negotiate distribution terms, establish initial expectations, and fuel momentum after onboarding.
Territory Development & Support
- Work closely with corporate teams and existing distributors to evaluate territory performance- including identifying weaknesses, amplifying existing capabilities and realigning territories
- Support growth for existing distributors initiatives by building tailored business plans, fostering expansion opportunities, promoting existing training, certification, and education programs
Strategic Account and Program Development
- Target and secure institutional and multi-location clients across North America to support brand credibility and sales volume.
- Improve service and logistics for new and existing key accounts by identifying and cultivating regional production partnerships and sales channels
- Cultivate Cooperative Purchasing Program with tactical support for key Distributors
Events & Representation
- Represent SYNLawn at industry trade shows, conferences, and regional dealer events to drive visibility, engagement, and new business opportunities
- Identify new high-impact events that showcase SYNLawn’s innovation & leadership
- Support planning, execution, and post-event management
- Act as a brand ambassador in both formal and informal settings, ensuring alignment with SYNLawn’s voice, values, and vision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
- 5 years of business development, channel sales, or territory management experience—preferably within the building materials, home improvement, turf, or landscape industries.
- Demonstrated success in developing and scaling sales/distribution networks.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills—able to build relationships and influence across all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CRM experience a plus.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to analyze and present data to inform business decisions.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
- Strong time management and accountability to deadlines.
