AstroTurf Corporation, part of the SportGroup family, is a global leader of outdoor sport and recreational surface systems. AstroTurf installs outdoor tennis and basketball courts as well as artificial turf fields and running tracks. SportGroup is transforming the synthetic sports surface industry and is aggressively expanding its workforce.
This exciting opportunity includes the necessary training to develop future Technicians and Supervisors. The Apprentice position offers excellent pay and benefits, along with career growth opportunities. As an Apprentice, your responsibilities are to:
TRACKS
- Learn and develop skills used on outdoor tracks for:
- Operate weed eater
- Operate edger and pick up grass sod
- Operate walk behind Billy-Goat Blower
- Adhere to all safety requirements and regulations
- Perform general tasks as directed
- Assist with setup and tear down of job sites
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks
- Complete truck logs in accordance with governmental regulations
- Assist with maintaining equipment
- Safely operate forklift
- Safely operate truck and trailers
- Safely operate various types of power tools and equipment
Work Conditions
- Outside in varying weather conditions
- Out of town requiring overnight stays up to 1 week at a time
- Following safety procedures when exposed to:
- Equipment capable of causing personal injury
- Exposure to chemicals
- Available to work weekends and nights as required

Qualifications
- Experience in construction preferred
- Positive attitude
- Attention to detail
- Possess a valid, appropriately classed driver's license free of any major infractions and meets DOT requirements for testing (preferred, not required)
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification a plus
- Ability to accurately perform varied tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to effectively communicate with fellow crew members and supervisors
- Willingness to work harmoniously with fellow crew members
- Must be dependable and perform fair share of project workload
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity
