Job Description: The Sterling Long-Term Care Pharmacy Technician facilitates the accurate filling of prescriptions. You will also undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to provide excellent customer service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly.
Core Competencies and Responsibilities:
- Fill prescriptions accurately and efficiently based on each facility preference.
- Assist in maintaining pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing, and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
- Help ensure appropriate paperwork and documentation is completed for billing of Medicaid and Medicare for DME.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks where needed.
- Be aware of and adhere to policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations
- Communicate with pharmacy manager on a regular basis.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and quality assurance program.
- Attain proficiency with pharmacy packaging and distribution technology (DOSIS, Nexsys, etc.).
- Sticker, receive and put away order.
- Handle hazardous drugs according to USP 800 guidelines.
- Efficiently tote and bag daily and cycle meds for facilities.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Prepackage medication as needed.
- Assist the pharmacist in the management of E-kits.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Demands:
- Requires the ability to work up to 40 hours per week and occasionally more
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including early morning, evening and weekend hours
- In a typical 8-hour day, the candidate can lift of carry items up to approximately 25 pounds and stand approximately 8 hours
