A Resident Support Staff provides essential support to youth with behavioral, mental health, and substance use disorders. RSS work closely with healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans, monitor resident progress, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This role requires compassion, strong observational skills, and a commitment to improving resident outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resident Care: Assist in the daily care and support of residents, including monitoring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Behavioral Interventions: Implement individualized behavioral interventions and support plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Documentation: Accurately document resident behaviors, interventions, and progress in medical records.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed to ensure patient safety.
- Group Activities: Facilitate and participate in group therapy sessions, recreational activities, and educational programs.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, counselors, and medical staff, to provide comprehensive care.
- Medication Administration: Assist with the administration of medications under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
- Health and Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients at all times.
- Family Support: Communicate with and provide support to patients' families and caregivers as needed.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and resources.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in behavioral health or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a behavioral health or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent communication, observational, and interpersonal skills; ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and restraining patients as needed, and working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

RSS work in a group home and residential treatment facility . The role involves working with youth between the ages of 12-18 and diverse backgrounds.
