Intelligent Transportation Systems Traffic Signal Technician

The ITS/Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for executing service and projects in the field. The ITS/Traffic Signal Technician is responsible for executing our client's service activities including:

  • Answering technical questions on the phone
  • Performing field service on both time and material contracts and annual maintenance and testing agreements
  • Turn-on assistance and system integration.

The ITS/ Traffic Signal Technician may assist engineers with application engineering and estimating.

We are seeking candidates in the greater Davenport, IA region, territory ranging from East Iowa/West Illinois to the Omaha/Lincoln, NE area, south to the Greater Kansas City directly east through Missouri to St. Louis, MO.

Duties

  • Maintain a superior understanding of ITS technology, field devices and the tools and methods used to deploy them in the field.
  • Conduct cabinet and system turn-ons.
  • Perform annual cabinet maintenance and CMU/MMU testing.
  • Perform on-site time and material service.
  • Lead, coordinate and execute on-site work for large scale integration projects with multiple technicians.
  • Represent the Company on-site and make decisions.
  • Provide informal on-site training for ATMS systems, controllers and other traffic field devices.
  • Mentor other Company technical resources as assigned.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for mentoring and be aware of the needs defined by the Company.
  • Help prepare estimates and preliminary proposals.
  • Perform Traffic Cabinet Alternations according to a pre-engineered design/customer requests.

Overtime hours are paid at 1.5x. The ITS Traffic Signal Technician should be expected to work overtime as necessary. Overtime is not a weekly occurrence and if your Friday closes out early, you’ll be back on your way home at full hours for the week if no overtime as been incurred. Average weekly overtime ranges from 0-5 hours.

Requirements

  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly (regularly talk and hear), read at a distance and close to eyes with or without correction.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Up to 65% travel is required and on occasion may drive up to 8 hours in one workday.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to legally and safely operate a company vehicle. A comprehensive MVR will be required on acceptance.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience: The ITS/Traffic Signal Technician must have earned an IT or electronics degree or equivalent and have 1 years of related field service experience.

**Must attain IMSA Level 2 or higher certification within one year of employment.

  • Must be objective and have excellent communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure
  • Must be reliability, self-confident, and highly organized
  • Must be able to maintain an excellent driving record
  • Must be Customer Service Oriented
  • Must be able to read and understand construction design plans

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 - $82,500.00 per year
