Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Health Aide to provide specialized care for a young client with Autism on the high-functioning end of the spectrum. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of autism-related behaviors and be able to provide individualized support to help the client thrive in their daily activities. As a Home Health Aide, you will work closely with the family to ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that fosters the client's independence, communication skills, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' health by observing their conditions and reporting any changes.
- Assist with mobility and heavy lifting as needed to ensure patient safety.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Support clients in daily living activities within assisted living or home care settings.
- Engage with patients through meaningful interactions to promote emotional well-being.
- Follow care plans developed by healthcare professionals to meet individual needs.
- Provide one-on-one care and support to a young client with autism, promoting independence and helping them achieve developmental goals.
- Assist with daily living tasks, such as personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming, while encouraging the client's participation.
- Implement individualized care plans developed by the family or healthcare team to address the client's specific needs, including behavioral management strategies and communication support.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to guide and encourage the client in social interactions, learning, and daily routines.
- Monitor and document the client's progress, challenges, and any changes in behaviors or health, and report findings to the family and healthcare team.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a structured and calming environment, using sensory activities or tools when necessary to help the client regulate emotions.
- Support the client in practicing social skills, self-regulation, and communication ( verbal or non-verbal) through various activities.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and trusting relationship with the client and their family.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in patient monitoring or caregiving is preferred.
- Knowledge of senior care practices and the ability to work with individuals with autism is a plus.
- Strong understanding of CPR techniques and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely while assisting clients.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid is desirable but not mandatory.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in special education, early childhood development, or related fields is preferred.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours as needed.
