Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In Home Caregiver to provide essential support and care to individuals in their own homes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical care, particularly in settings such as teaching hospitals, trauma centers, or geriatrics. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services including bathing, grooming, and dressing assistance.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
- Assist with mobility and physical therapy exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being and companionship.
- Communicate effectively with family members and healthcare providers regarding client needs and progress.
- Document care provided and any significant changes in the client's condition.
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical-surgical care principles.
- Experience in working within a Teaching Hospital or similar healthcare environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with operating room (OR) protocols is beneficial.
- Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous.
- Background in hospital medicine or geriatrics is highly desirable.
- Ability to teach clients and families about health management and self-care techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to caregiving.
