Overview
As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant at At Home Healthcare, you will work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist to provide speech and language disorder services to clients in their homes. Your responsibilities will include following treatment plans, implementing changes as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist, and consulting with them regarding client progress.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the treatment plan set up by a Speech-Language Pathologist, including providing speech therapy and rehabilitative services to clients with language/communication disorders or swallowing disorders.
- Work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist to ensure that all services are provided safely and effectively.
- Maintain current knowledge of client's condition through observation and document any changes in client condition to the client file.
- Immediately report any changes in client condition or response to therapy to the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Consult with the supervising speech-language pathologist regarding changes to the plan of care as appropriate.
- Implement changes in the plan of care when written by the supervising speech-language pathologist and authorized by the client's physician.
- Consult with the supervising speech-language pathologist regarding the client's progress and response to treatments.
Qualifications:
- Requires an in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge attained through graduation from an accredited speech and audiology program.
- Must have and maintain current license as a speech-language assistant, including maintaining observation and supervision records.
- Requires ability to speak, read, and write English accurately.
- Must have and maintain current valid Texas Driver's License and proof of current liability insurance.
- Must submit to annual TB screening.
- Must maintain current certificate of basic life support (CPR).
- Computer software skills necessary to produce accurate documents and materials required. Working knowledge of MS Office preferred.
- Requires ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds continuously to move objects.
