What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Indirect Tax Manager position at At Home?
The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Senior Director of Tax and will assist with the following tasks related to indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other business licenses and fees: tax accounting, tax compliance, tax planning, people & process development, and communication & collaboration with all internal and external business partners.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly tax journal entries
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for tax accounts
- Facilitate the preparation of tax returns and payments in coordination with outside consultants
- Review tax returns and filings
- Prepare taxable income projections used to forecast cash taxes payable for relevant jurisdictions
- Assist with indirect tax audits
- Resolve and respond to tax notices
- Monitor and analyze new tax developments, including laws, regulations, court cases and other guidance; ensure the Company’s compliance with relevant jurisdiction requirements
- Play an active role in developing, refining and implementing department processes and the Company’s tax strategy
- Assist in the preparation of SOX documentation
- Play an active role in the rollout of Avalara fleet-wide
- Perform other tax projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate
- Demonstrates an eagerness to learn
- Enjoys a balance between independent work and collaboration with the team
- Takes ownership of individual and team tasks; participates in planning the strategy and then executing with accuracy
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities with the demands of the business
- Demonstrates an appropriate sense of urgency, in particular around deadlines
- 2 years of indirect tax experience at a large public accounting firm or industry
- Experience with Avalara preferred
- Experience with tax software implementation preferred
