We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Property Leader specializing in Excess & Surplus Lines (E&S) business to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the growth of Excess & Surplus (E&S) Property business written on a nation-wide basis via nationwide wholesalers.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with CEO and CUO to develop and implement growth strategies for E&S property business, ensuring alignment with company objectives and profitability goals
- Underwrite small and middle-market E&S property accounts on a brokerage basis; Manage referral property accounts via nationwide binding authority program
- Monitor and manage the performance of the E&S property portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize profitability
- Lead, hire and mentor property underwriters. Mentor and train Assistant Underwriters
- Management of aggregate in wildfire and wind CAT exposed areas. Set CAT aggregate strategy and manage aggregate reporting process
- Develop, monitor and update property underwriting guidelines and rates
- Build and nurture relationships with wholesale brokers and internal teams to drive business growth and retention
- Work closely with treaty and facultative reinsurance markets to optimize Atain reinsurance strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in related work experience
- Minimum 8 years of property Excess and Surplus Lines underwriting experience at an E&S carrier – commercial lines and homeowners
- Deep understanding of property insurance products, CAT exposure (wind and wildfire), underwriting principles, and risk assessment methodologies
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a demonstrated history of proactive performance
- Ability to travel
