What are the responsibilities and job description for the Garage Mechanic position at Atalco Gramercy Operations?
Primary Function:
Inspects, maintains, repairs and lubricates all types of mobile equipment and stationary engines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Working from specifications, standard procedures, blueprints and diagrams - lubricates, inspects, repairs and maintains all types of mobile equipment and stationary engines; makes adjustments to correct faults, modifies units as directed, operates equipment in connection with making necessary repairs.
• Inspects equipment periodically, makes adjustments to maintain proper operating condition.
• Inspects, services and repairs mobile equipment air conditioning systems (maintains appropriate state certification)
• Overhauls equipment periodically
• Inspects, troubleshoots, services and repairs mobile equipment electrical systems
• Does a limited amount of welding (not structural framing or lifting elements), burning and miscellaneous soldering in connection with equipment maintenance
• Does body and fender work
• Requisitions material from storeroom and Auto Shop parts room
• Lubricates, services and washes automotive equipment
• Operates cranes, hoists and mobile equipment in performance of duties
• Reports and keeps record of discrepancies as required
• Keeps equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Performs above duties with a minimum of supervision by reason of a thorough understanding of the principles of internal combustion engines and skills and experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive engines, brake systems, cooling, hydraulics, controls, safety elements and any related equipment assemblies.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must pass a written test.
