What are the responsibilities and job description for the Powerhouse Supervisor/ Crew Manager position at Atalco Gramercy Operations?
Atalco Gramercy Operations is the leading producer of Alumina in the United States. Our Gramercy refinery produces 1.2 million tons a year of smelter grade alumina (SGA) for the production of aluminum as well as chemical grade alumina (CGA) which is used in a wide array of industrial applications.
We are currently seeking a Powerhouse Crew Manager for our Gramercy, LA refinery.
Job Summary/ Objective
The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for directing and supervising operations personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient manner in accordance with all Company policies and environmental standards, under the direction of the Powerhouse Manager.
Essential Functions
- Provide visible, consistent, and strong safety leadership to the Team to ensure no injuries. Provides a safe working environment. Enforce 100 percent PPE compliance and 100 percent Compliance to shift operators' Housekeeping Routines.
- Ensure Proper Lockout/Tagout of equipment for maintenance – and issue Safe Work Permits.
- Report all safety incidents, environmental spills, and/or any other incidents promptly. Complete Incident Investigation Reports for all incidents promptly.
- Organize and Chair Safety Shift Huddles & Daily Management Meetings. Review “Best Practice Cards”. Ensure that any changes to process requirements are communicated effectively to all Shift Team Members.
- Troubleshoot plant operational issues.
- Ensure safe and cost-effective continuous production of Alumina through our employees. Ensure that all shift logs are completed accurately and on time – and reviewed & signed-off. Correct deviations to process KPI’s & targets promptly.
- Expeditiously address favorable or unsatisfactory employee reviews, team performance, and behavioral issues.
- Mentor & coach team members to meet the required performance expectations. Provide on-the-job training of team members.
- Identify & communicate training needs for the team to HR & Unit Manager.
- Enforce 100 percent Compliance of Operator Routines and Rounds.
- Report equipment defects to Maintenance Planning & Supervisors promptly.
- Timely update “Time & Attendance” records for employees. Support the management of vacation, sick leaves, and shift schedules for the team. Contact appropriate personnel in the event of major process deviation, disruption, or stoppage.
Education/Training Requirements
- Candidate must have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- Qualified candidates must have 5 years or more of experience in power plant operations.
- Detailed knowledge of the operation of steam generating power stations, instrument, and control systems.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to originate and monitor plant procedures and technical instructions.
