Chief Inspector

ATANE is seeking a Full-Time Chief Inspector for water and sewer main installations in the Hartford, CT, area. The candidate must meet the following criteria:

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Individuals must have considerable knowledge of watermain, sewer main, CSO separation and roadway construction practices and procedures.
• Supervision of assigned Inspectors.
• Conducts and attends various meetings as needed related to assigned construction projects.
• Perform inspections on large, complex or multiple water and sewer projects.
• Coordinate with Client representatives for work assignments and scope.
• Coordinate and schedule inspection assignments and required project acceptance testing based on contractor planned activities.
• Perform materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation.
• Points out potential problems to the contractor and project engineer and keeps project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of project.
• Responsible for job specific quality assurance tasks as defined in quality manual and quality management plan.
• Prepares, reviews and submits extensive written daily reports, logs and as-built documentation.
• Ability to generate and maintain organized field and office records in hard copy and electronic format.
• Review and agree on contractor payments based on completed work.
• Monitor contractors’ compliance with safety plan and requirements of quality management plan.
• Supervise, train and mentor assigned Inspectors.
• Ability to deal effectively with contractors, co-workers, client representatives and others.
• Considerable knowledge of roadway, water and sewer main construction materials, means and methods.

• Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Ability to deal effectively with people.

Minimum Credentials:

• PE or CCM or EIT
• NICET HCI Level 4

Minimum Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• 10 years urban roadway and/or utility construction
• 4 years Field Inspection
• 2 years Supervisory

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58.00 - $75.00 per hour
