Process Engineering Technician - Salvagnini
SUMMARY
Analyzes technical problems and processes in various departments to improve performance, conducts product design and development projects, performs duties as CNC programmer, evaluates potential products and process technologies, assists in coordinating product testing and code data, and consults on a variety of technical matters by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes technical processes and procedures to determine causes of problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend or implement appropriate modifications.
Analyzes technical aspects of potential products, processes and production equipment, and determines the relative merits of competing technologies.
Develops computer programs for the Salvagnini operation, including part analysis, sheet layout, and tool paths. Conducts part tryout, troubleshoots problems, and maintains the tool library.
Designs, develops and modifies products and processes, as directed by senior management, to improve product performance or expand the product offering of the company, in accordance with established procedures.
Assists Production by developing special machine setups and providing work instructions for production processes.
Analyzing of new tooling requirements.
Conducts special projects as requested by the President, Executive VP of Manufacturing and VP of Sales.
Development of CNC programs for Salvagnini operation using Streambend and Streampunch, including part analysis, sheet layout and tool paths.
Conduct trial runs of prototype parts, trouble shoots problems and maintains the tool library.
Plans production process machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, location of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
Programs machine by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry and trigonometry; proving parts programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervising responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in mechanical engineering, manufacturing or a related field, or 2 to 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience programming the Salvagnini machine.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and technical procedures. Ability to collaborate with others to solve problems. Ability to effectively present information, both orally and written, and respond to questions.
MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts, such as geometry, trigonometry and algebra. Experience with 2D and 3D drafting software, as they apply to sheet metal construction; familiarity with programming for computer-aided-machining, Microsoft Windows operating system, and skills with both MS Excel and MS Word.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Understanding of the overview of the machine structure and functioning principle of the machine.
