Job Description:
An Engineering Technician is a professional with 0-3 years of engineering experience. This position will work with a team of engineers for the design and production of construction documents for building facilities of various uses and construction materials.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Application of structural engineering and detailing techniques associated with building design and rehabilitation plans.
- Conducting analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
- Performing routine engineering assignments requiring the application of standard techniques and procedures.
- Working independently on small assignments and assisting Senior Engineers on projects.
- Collaborating with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Participating in building inspections as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A working understanding of AISC, IBC, ACI, and ASCE 7 design standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
- Knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro and Tekla Structures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow, and complete tasks on schedule.
- Excellent time management skills.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
Certifications/Licenses Required:
- Engineer-in-Training certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid Driver's License.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use, sitting, standing, filing, lifting, and carrying files up to 25 pounds.
