Job Description
ATC Healthcare is thrilled to welcome a compassionate and skilled PCU Nurse to join our team for a contract assignment in Kearny, NE. This is a rewarding opportunity for a PCU Nurse to provide exceptional care to patients. 40 beds with average daily census of 24, strive for a 4:1 ratio but can have 5:1 ratio, depending on our staffing situation. Have a mixture of pulmonary (pneumonia, COPD, BiPAP/cpap, etc.), cardiac (a-fib, heart failure, etc.), neuro (stroke), GI (bleed), and surgery patients who are stable with a higher risk of becoming unstable. Unit is equipped to house 20 stepdown patients at one time; however, all patients do not have to be step-down in order to be on unit. There may be a combination of adult med-surg, telemetry, and step-down patients at any given time. Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way A nurse on this unit is successful if they are a team player, are flexible and adaptable, and have good communication skills, Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian
Key Responsibilities

Studying patients' charts, medication regimens, and test results upon admittance to the PCU.

Tracking routine vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements.

Interpreting measurements from specialized medical equipment.

Continuous evaluation and monitoring of patients for signs of recovery or worsening of their condition.

Changing dressings, starting IV lines and inserting catheters.

Preparing medical equipment and maintaining supplies to be ready for immediate use.

Assisting other members of the medical care team to ensure the patient’s needs are met.

Calculating drug doses for your patients and administering prescribed medications.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience (Required)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Required)
