Job Description:
The Recreational Therapist provides a full range of activity therapy activities and techniques to meet the developmental needs of mentally ill and/or mentally disabled prisoners, within the specific discipline of recreational therapy. This position requires a person with skills and ability to provide various professional recreational therapy assignments and activities used in the therapeutic treatment of mentally ill/disabled prisoners within the Department of Corrections. The Recreational Therapist is a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team assessing the need for, devising, and interpreting recreational therapy techniques and treatment interventions. The position has the responsibility of case management duties for an assigned group of prisoners.
Skills:
- Ability to provide recreational therapy activities and techniques
- Experience working with mentally ill and/or mentally disabled individuals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Case management skills
