Responsibilities:
- Places fiber and yarn packages on machine and draws them through appropriate guides and tensioners.
- Monitors machine operation to detect broken threads of yarn, the evenness of warp tension and the quality of output.
- Removes completed garments and lengths of fabric from machine.
- Examine looms to determine causes of stoppage, such as warp, filling, harness breaks, or mechanical defects.
- Remove / mark defects in cloth.
- Inspect products to ensure that specifications are met and to determine if machines need adjustment.
- Thread yarn and fabric through guides, needles, and rollers of machines for weaving and other processes.
- Set up and operate machines; check and adjust beam tensions, harnesses, heddles, reeds.
- Assist with or perform style changes according to customer specifications.
- Start machines, monitor operations, and adjust as needed.
- Recognize, troubleshoot, and repair any machinery issues.
- Record information about work completed and machine settings as needed.
- Communicate with co-workers to obtain information about orders, processes, or problems.
- Stop machines when specified yardages have been met.
- May be asked to study guides, loom patterns, samples, charts, specification sheets or communicate with management or designers to determine setup requirements.
- Notify management of mechanical / electrical malfunctions.
- Assist in other areas within the Weaving operation as needed.
