Athena Coding is looking for engaging and adaptable instructors to lead hands-on STEAM, literacy, physical development, and arts-based activities for students in an Extended Learning Opportunity Summer Program in Alhambra. Instructors should be passionate about working with kids, fostering creativity, and creating a positive, supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging, hands-on lessons in coding, game design, creative writing, sports, and/or arts.
- Work with students in groups of up to 20 students, adapting instruction to different age levels and skillsets.
- Encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving throughout activities.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.
- Support students with project-based work, including coding challenges, storytelling, and collaborative games.
- Provide positive reinforcement and guidance to help students build confidence in their skills.
- Communicate with program staff and ensure smooth transitions between activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or working with kids in any capacity.
- Background in STEAM, literacy, performing arts, or physical education is a plus.
- Strong classroom management and the ability to engage students in active learning.
- Ability to adapt lessons to different age groups and learning styles.
- Reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic about working with children.
