POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Assistant.The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for helping manage the flow of products and stock through a warehouse, and related duties as assigned. This FULL TIME position starts at 18.00 per hour and is located in Troy, VA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Helps the Warehouse Supervisor in maintaining an effective and efficient institutional warehouse operation ensuring an adequate inventory level of approved items in compliance with DOC and institutional policy and procedure.
Assist with ensuring all goods and materials are properly received, properly documented, stored and/or distributed in compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements.
Assists the Warehouse Supervisor with maintaining a perpetual inventory system.
Assist with the physical inventory of warehouse items.
Maintains safety and security and sanitation of warehouse operation.
Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
Ability to work collaboratively.
Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Drivers License.
Knowledge of warehousing operations, procedures, shipping and receiving.
Capable of operating electric pallet jacks, reach trucks and forklifts.
Experience with OSHA compliance and handling hazardous materials.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations; to maintain harmonious working and public relations; to learn new practices, procedures and equipment operations.
Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work assignments with minimal guidance from others; to understand and apply operating procedures.
Preferred: Prefer Forklift Operator Certification. Prefer training and/or experience in warehouse operations. Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 7:00 am 3:30 pm.
