Overview: The Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining all engineering and production-related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards. This position supports the Engineering department by creating and controlling Process Documents (PDs), Setup Sheets for CNC Programmers, and other technical documentation necessary for manufacturing operations. The role requires effective coordination with cross-functional teams, strict adherence to revision control procedures, and proactive management of document workflows to support efficient production and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following
- Create, manage, and maintain Process Documents (PDs) and Setup Sheets to support CNC Programmers and machinists.
- Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with internal standards and customer requirements.
- Organize and control the flow of technical documents, drawings, revisions, and specifications across departments.
- Collaborate closely with Engineers, CNC Programmers, Quality, and Production teams to gather necessary data for documentation.
- Track document revisions and maintaining version control to ensure only the latest approved documents are in circulation.
- Support Engineering in the preparation and release of work instructions, BOMs, and routing sheets within the ERP system.
- Assist in audits by providing accurate and timely documentation as requested (internal, customer, or regulatory audits).
- Implement and uphold document control procedures to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Archive obsolete documents in accordance with company policies and retention schedules.
- Provide administrative support to the Engineering team as needed, including document formatting and data entry.
- Train relevant personnel in document control processes and proper use of documentation systems.
- Other duties may be assigned by leadership.
Qualifications: Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience in document control, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with CNC machining processes and terminology is a plus.
- Experience creating setup sheets, process documentation, or technical instructions is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
- Understanding of revision control, document lifecycle, and manufacturing documentation best practices.
- Experience with CAD software or PDF editing tools is a plus.
- Exposure to aerospace technical data packages is a plus
Physical Requirement: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional walking on the shop floor to coordinate with production and engineering teams.
- Must be able to lift to 15 lbs. occasionally for document handling or filing.
