This role will support the financial planning process, guiding strategic decisions that enhance the profitability and sustainability of our insurance products and services. Accountabilities:
- Investment Forecasting and Analysis Support:
- Assist in forecasting and analyzing the company’s investment results, focusing on optimizing earnings while managing capital and risk
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to evaluate past and future performance of various asset classes within the insurance portfolio
- Financial Planning Integration:
- Incorporate investment insights into the broader financial planning process – analyzing actual results and drivers, near-term forecasting , and long-term financial modeling efforts
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial projections
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to drive business decisions
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the company’s investment portfolio, including fixed income, mortgages, alternative investments and derivatives
- Reporting and Presentation:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management
- Develop and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and highlight trends, risk and opportunities
- Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with other departments, primarily Investments / Portfolio Management but also Actuarial, Treasury / Capital Management, Risk, etc) to provide insights into market trends, investment opportunities and risk management to support business initiatives
- Partner with IT to ensure robust financial systems and tools are in place for accurate data collection and reporting
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing effective controls and processes
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Math, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. FSA, MBA or CFA is a plus.
- Experience:
- 8 years of experience in investments, financial planning and analysis, and/or actuarial analysis. Management experience is a plus.
- Proven track record of driving financial performance and providing strategic financial leadership.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools, as well as advanced knowledge of Excel and financial software systems
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in financial reporting and analysis
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders
