Job Summary

Components of USSOCOM have the responsibility to execute large-scale training exercises designed to enhance readiness and prepare SOF units for deployment. At SOF Component Commands, the Prime Contractor, with support of the Subcontractor, is to provide SME to facilitate planning and execution of SOF core activities and SOF-CF I3; augment/replicate critical staff planning positions and provide SOF exercise planning and execution products throughout the JELC IAW SOF, Joint, Service, GCC training objectives. The Intel Planner is part of the EMERALD WARRIOR Exercise planning team charged with planning and executing the AFSOC Joint National Training Capability certified event. Other team members include specialists in communications, model and simulations, intelligence, operations, logistics, MSEL manager, ranges, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The Intel Planner is responsible for ensuring the Intel scenario is developed for the Emerald Warriors and thoroughly supports AFSOC training objectives, developed in conjunction with the exercise Ops and Lead Planners.
• The Intel Planner will ensure Intel requirements are identified with the Joint Exercise MSEL Manager and all Emerald Warrior Intel needs are coordinated with the AFSOC/A2, Theater JCS Exercise Lead planner or AFSOC JNTC lead planner, as appropriate.
• The Intel Planner is responsible for ensuring the development of the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance scenario specifics, coordinating the Intel specifics with USSOCOM, USSOCOM Components, COCOM planners, and Interagency organizations as appropriate.
• The Intel Planner will lead and conduct all AFSOC Intel Working Group responsibilities during the JELC Planning Conferences.
• During Emerald Warrior execution, the Intel Planner is responsible for ensuring all Intel based scenario and MSEL events occur according to MSEL plan.
• The Intel Planner will be prepared to participate in the Joint Event Control Group (JECG) during all Emerald Warriors. The Intel Planner functions as a SOF Subject Matter Expert (SME), and replicates higher echelon Intel specific responsibilities during JNTC JELC and Execution events.
• The Intel Planner maintains currency in Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) Intel reporting procedures by data-mining CJSOTF, JSOAC, Theater, and national Intel resources.
• The Intel Planner will conceptualize relationships within and outside the CJSOTF and JSOAC to ensure AFSOC Intel data flows properly, and in a timely manner.
• The Intel Planner will access and manipulate Intel resources (target packages, national level multi-spectrum imagery, supporting documentation, etc.) to develop mission scenarios and create all-source Intel Event storylines to prepare the training audience to support SOF activities in the AFSOC Emerald Warrior or COCOM JCS Exercise.
• The Intel Planner must utilize HUMINT, SIGINT, MASINT, and SOF ASO capabilities and reporting/tracking procedures to ensure AFSOC Emerald Warrior training objectives are accomplished.
• The Intel Planner will prepare and deliver oral presentations, to develop written correspondence, and to coordinate working groups and training sessions in support of AFSOC Emerald Warrior JELC planning and execution.
  
  

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree with 6 years' experience in SOF, or Prior E7 , CW3 with 8 years' experience working in SOF
• Prior experience as an exercise intel planner for joint level exercises.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience with the Joint Training System (joint exercise planning management)
• Minimum of 4 years' recent experience serving in a SOF tactical or operational level headquarters (SOJTF or JSOTF)
• Minimum of 4 years' experience developing SOF tactical-operational level products to support CCMD, TSOC/JSOC, and SOF Component SOF and CT exercises
• Minimum of 4 years' experience directly interfacing with senior staff (O5/O6 and GOFO) at the TSOCs, Components, CCMDs, Services, Interagency
• Excellent presentation, communication and organization skills; proven skills in formal classroom delivery
• Preferred 2 years' experience as a platform instructor in a Professional Military Education/training environment
