The Athens Area Diaper Bank strives to eradicate diaper need by providing diapers to low-income families in the Athens area, while raising public awareness of diaper need and its impact. The Athens Area Diaper Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Description:
Our Director of Development will play a critical role in managing and executing our organization’s fundraising activities that support our programmatic operations. This team member will cultivate donor and stakeholder relationships, oversee special events, and manage our grant proposals, compliance, and reporting. This team member will maintain our grants and donor databases, stewardship, and reporting deadlines. This position will assist in other fundraising capacities and will report to the Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to make a substantial impact with a growing nonprofit.
Job Details:
- Hours: full-time
- remote work setup for majority of the work; frequent onsite and stakeholder meetings
- $50,000-60,000/year, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities for our Director of Development:
- Manage and execute the organization’s annual development plan to achieve annual revenue goals that support our programmatic operations, using industry best practices and data-driven analyses.
- Manage and develop existing initiatives, appeals, and campaigns to establish and maintain new and existing donors.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual/corporate donors with the Executive Director.
- Oversee the donor stewardship process (e.g., acknowledgment letters) and other stewardship campaigns to connect donors to the organization’s mission and foster a sense of community.
- Help develop creative and mission-centric fundraising messaging that articulates the unique role and impact of our organization’s work.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with funders and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate donor/corporate tours and visits if appropriate.
- Work with staff to identify funding needs, and to create budgets and compelling narratives to support development activities.
- Oversee the organization of special events that support our organization’s revenue goals, and attend appropriate special events within the community.
- Execute accurate gift entry with donor management system (currently FlipCause) and revenue tracking to ensure thorough documentation of all development activities.
- Work with the Board of Directors in the planning and execution of the fundraising events and stewardship activities.
- Grants:
- Research potential corporate, private, government, and community funding opportunities.
- Produce and submit high quality letters of inquiry, grant proposals and applications, supporting documents, compliance reports, and funder reports in a timely manner.
- Maintains primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants.
- Maintain compliance and meet financial, programmatic, and impact reporting requirements for existing grants.
- Work with leadership to strategize, advocate for, and execute organization growth.
- Produce regular development reports and progress-to-goals dashboards for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Performance metrics will be agreed upon during annual strategic planning with progress updates provided quarterly.
- Expected job responsibilities: 70% fundraising, 10% events, and 20% grants.

- Be highly connected and familiar with the greater Athens community.
- Experience with or an understanding of the issue of diaper need.
- Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality with sensitive information about donors, partners, and clients.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple duties and priorities in deadline-intensive situations.
- Self-motivated and driven with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience with spreadsheet and document software (Microsoft and Google products).
- Able to flourish in a creative team environment as well as operate independently.
Requirements:
- 3 years or more of proven development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Occasionally work outside of normal business hours for special events.
- Must be willing to undergo drug screening tests and background checks.
- GA Driver’s license and clean driving record.
