JOB TITLE: Teacher - Strength and Conditioning
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A teaching certificate from the Alabama State Department of Education is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in strength training or equivalent experience is required. Minimum of two years strength training experience preferred.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
Salary Schedule: TA

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.
- Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Position Summary: The Strength and Conditioning Coach provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of nutrition, strength training, agility and physical conditioning for all student‐athletes and sports teams at the assigned school.
- Understand and assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board of Education policies.
- Participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school and school system.
- Responsible for providing a clean, safe and helpful workout environment for the students assigned, as well as provide assistance to those working out.
- Ensure a safe workout environment through constant circulation of the floor
- Be able to answer fitness questions and have extensive knowledge of equipment, proper workout technique, and conditioning routines and regimen.
- Be available to set up students on any piece of equipment and properly provide spots to users.
- Keep the workout area(s) clean and make sure all weights are in their proper place.
- Update the Athletic Director on equipment needs and/or upgrades. Make recommendations providing student/athletes the best possible strength training equipment available.
- Create a sport specific workout program for all teams and individuals.
- Schedule strength and conditioning workouts in cooperation with the head coach of each specific sport.
- Be present and punctual for all workouts with students.
- Enforce all building policies and procedures, such as no bags on the floor and proper dress code for all users Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
- Maintain up‐to‐date records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of every student‐
- Communicate effectively; return phone calls and emails to the athletic director and administrative staff promptly.
- Establish and maintain appropriate discipline in the classroom and assist staff in establishment and maintenance of discipline in the school environment.
- Attend and participate regularly in staff meetings.
- Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with parents and community.
- Promote good public relations for school and school system with the public.
- Perform other related duties during school necessary to the safe and effective operation of the school when requested by the principal.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
- Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
- Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
