SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes, Lifeguards, Assistant Managers, Managers, and Lakefront Lifeguard subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance. No, for Pool Clerk.
Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to provide continuous oversight of an outdoor swimming pool facility ensuring a safe environment and performing lifesaving techniques in the event of an unforeseen situation.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Pools are open Tuesday-Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 9:00 am and 7:30 pm.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
If hired for a Summer position, you will be REQUIRED to attend Orientation.
Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Pool Clerk $15.60
Some High School education or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must be able to assist with routine pool maintenance and cleaning requirements.
Lifeguard $16.38
Some High School education or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must possess the minimum current lifesaving certification required by the American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR and lifesaving techniques before performing lifeguard job duties. Valid through the end of the summer season.
Applicants not currently certified must obtain certification before first scheduled pool shift. Training for certification will be provided by Leisure Services Dept.
Assistant Pool Manager $17.16
One season of aquatic service experience and some high school education required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess the minimum current lifesaving certification required by the American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR and lifesaving techniques before performing job duties. Valid through the end of the summer season.
Applicants not currently certified must obtain certification before first scheduled pool shift. Training for certification will be provided by Leisure Services Department.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Supervisory experience and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred, but not required.
Pool Manager $17.94
Two seasons of aquatic service experience and some high school education or one season of aquatic experience and High School diploma or equivalent required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess the minimum current lifesaving certification required by the American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR and lifesaving techniques before performing job duties. Valid through the end of the summer season.
Applicants not currently certified must obtain certification before first scheduled pool shift. Training for certification will be provided by Leisure Services Dept.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Lakefront Lifeguard $17.16
High School diploma with six months of related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must be 18 years of age or older. Age 21 or older preferred.
Must possess a current valid driver's license.
Must possess the minimum current lifesaving certification required by the American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR and lifesaving techniques, including Waterfront Skills Certification (Sandy Creek Day Camp can provide lakeside training in advance of start date.). Valid through the end of the summer season.
Ability to implement American Camping Association aquatic safety procedures for an accredited camp preferred.
