What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Line Cook position at Athens Cooks?
Athens Cooks in Athens, GA is looking for one full-time lead line cook to join our small team of passionate cooks. We are open for breakfast and Lunch from 8am - 3pm and we teach cooking classes in the evenings. We are located on 100 Prince Ave Ste 103 and have free dedicated employee parking. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and engaged with a proven track record of leading in the kitchen.
Pay is $17-$20 dependent on experience. Schedule needs are full-time, and ideally 7:30am - 4pm with occasional assisting with classes in the evenings.
Responsibilities
- Lead Breakfast and Lunch Service: Supervise and manage the preparation and cooking of breakfast and lunch items on the line, ensuring high quality, consistency, and timely service
- Prep and Cook: Prepare ingredients, sauces, and other components for breakfast and lunch dishes following established recipes
- Maintain Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure the kitchen and workstations are clean, organized, and in compliance with all health and safety regulations. Clean as you go and assist with deep cleaning tasks as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Lead by example, training, mentoring, and providing guidance to other kitchen staff, ensuring effective communication and teamwork during service.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels for breakfast and lunch ingredients, ensuring that items are stocked, and communicating with our chef when more items are needed
- Time Management: Ensure efficient cooking and plating during busy service times, ensuring orders are completed promptly and accurately.
- Adaptability: Respond to special dietary requests or last-minute menu changes with flexibility, while maintaining consistency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a line cook.
- Culinary Skills: Expertise in preparing breakfast and lunch dishes, with a focus on quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and mentor other kitchen staff.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and a passion for food.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
