Overview
We are seeking a versatile and skilled GIS Specialist who will excel in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tasks and provide essential support to our dynamic real estate division housed within the County Auditor's office. In this role, you will undertake GIS-related duties while also collaborating closely with the real estate division team on various responsibilities including property conveyance, administration of programs such as CAUV, Homestead Exemption, Owner Occupancy Tax Credit, and property valuation assessment and maintenance, which encompasses improvements, as well as management of damaged and destroyed real property and manufactured homes.
Duties
1. Utilize GIS software and tools to analyze spatial data, create maps, and generate reports to support decision-making processes.
2. Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of spatial information.
3. Collaborate with the real estate division team to conduct property research, gather market data, and analyze trends for property valuation and assessment purposes.
4. Assist in the administration of programs such as CAUV, Homestead Exemption, and Owner Occupancy Tax Credit by providing GIS support for eligibility determination and data analysis.
5. Support property conveyance processes by providing GIS expertise in parcel mapping and legal description verification.
6. Assist in maintaining records of property improvements and managing data related to damaged or destroyed real property and manufactured homes.
7. Provide GIS support for real estate division activities related to property valuation assessment, including analyzing changes in property values and maintaining accurate records of property characteristics.
8. Collaborate with other departments and agencies as needed to integrate GIS data and support interdepartmental initiatives.
Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or related field.
2. Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
5. Experience or familiarity with real estate practices and programs such as CAUV, Homestead Exemption, and property conveyance is a plus.
6. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
7. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of both GIS and real estate division projects within a government office setting.
8. Experience with ESRI suite of GIS products and applications.
9. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and online business tools.
10. General knowledge of Real Estate CAMA systems.
11. Knowledge of surveying techniques with ability to read and interpret deeds, surveys, and legal descriptions.
