Summary
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for the management of employee data, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, computing wages, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. The Payroll Administrator will also be responsible for checking, auditing, and maintaining the time keeping system, processing requests for payroll advances, and processing final wages for voluntary and involuntary terminations. This position will work closely with the finance department to account for wage garnishments, employment taxes and retirement accounts within each employee’s paycheck.
Job Description
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of the weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees , processing gross to net calculation, audit and balancing. This includes the entire cycle of payroll processing from capturing of new employees, leave, terminations, etc.
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of off-cycle payroll (i.e. layoffs) as needed.
- Manages the administration of payroll policies, procedures and programs.
- Process manual checks and payroll adjustments
- Completes payroll reports for record-keeping purposes and managerial review
- Ability to research complex payroll issues and implement solutions.
- Remain informed on payroll regulations, programs and practices.
- Process payments to garnishments on a weekly basis.
- Arrange checks for distribution on a weekly basis.
- Provides administrative support to the department, which includes filing, off cycle check processing and other payroll related duties.
- Responsible for the coordination efforts between Payroll and Human Resources and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, new hire, termination, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Business Administration/Finance.
- 3 to 5 years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions.
- Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws and overtime requirements.
- Strong skills using Microsoft Office/Word/Excel/Outlook
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy, prioritize multiple tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Manage an ever-changing workforce with frequently changing schedules and locations.
- Proven customer service skills while maintaining a confidential work environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to employees and management.
- Ability to interface with and satisfy the needs of diverse groups ranging from corporate to operations staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Finance or similar field.
Salary: $26.46 - $35.53/hour
