Position: Veterinary Technology Instructor
Location: Athens Campus
Department: Division of Life Sciences & Public Safety
Reports to: Program Chair for Veterinary Technology and Divisional Academic Dean
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:
- Teach both didactic lecture and laboratory sections of Veterinary Technology Program-specific courses, which may include but not limited to: Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging, Veterinary Practice Management, Biomedical-Exotic Animals, Veterinary Medical Terminology, Introduction to Veterinary Technology, Clinical Pathology, Clinical Procedures, and Anesthesia & Surgical Nursing.
- Prepare and set-up of laboratories, which include the organization of faculty, live animals, student groups, guest speakers, equipment, and consumable supplies.
- Supervise veterinary technology students during clinical education experiences in various settings, which will include facilities such as university, biomedical research, and private & corporate veterinary medical hospitals.
- Review clinical evaluation forms for clinicals, internships, & externships; and revise forms as needed, in conjunction with program faculty and clinical representatives, to meet AVMA-CVTEA accreditation standards.
- Participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities to support the continuing accreditation of the Veterinary Technology Program at Athens Technical College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an AVMA-CVTEA accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
- Active license as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Georgia.
- Two (2) years of recent clinical experience as a licensed Veterinary Technician.
- Physically able to handle equipment, supplies, and live animals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience in an educational or clinical setting.
- Clinical experience with both small animals and large animals.
- Experience with advanced media technology and educational learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
