Position: Part-time Adult Basic Education (ABE) Corrections Instructor
Location: Athens Clarke County
Department: Adult Education
Reports to: Executive Director of Adult Education & Walton Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, HSE (GED®) test preparation at the Athens-Clarke County Jail and the Day Reporting Center via the Georgia Department of Community Supervision to identify student goals to design an appropriate program to address goals.
- Conduct assessments in reading, mathematics, and language in accordance with the appropriate assessment systems in order to ascertain the academic strengths and weaknesses of participants.
- Develop individualized plans of study for each participant in the program.
- Plan and deliver effective and comprehensive instruction based on the appropriate curriculum guides and the needs of the population to be served.
- Plan, develop, and implement lessons that require the usage of higher-order thinking skills by the population served.
- Develop instructional materials to meet the needs of the students.
- Plan for and utilize volunteers in the education program.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress for the purpose of determining and implementing modifications to the student’s original individualized program of study.
- Analyze student performance data.
- Ensure high visibility of local, state, and national print media in the classroom setting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Business Education, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and understand adult education systems within the Technical College System of Georgia.
