We are seeking a part-time, experienced Future Naturalist Instructor to lead our field trips and provide natural history education for students and parents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for nature, love of the outdoors, and an interest in ecology, conservation, and natural history.
Participants Will LEARN:
- Insect Life Cycle
- Physiology and dynamics of common insects
- Relationships of living organisms and their environment
- Hands on interactive nature activities
- The science of horticulture, zoology and More!
Our Future Naturalist Instructor will explore the different categories of science related to horticulture, and zoology. The ecosystem of plants and insects: identification of common species and their functions in balancing an environment. Participate in a scavenger hunt, make a collection complete with actual species and with their drawings!
Experience:
- Lead trips and activities that promote nature education and provide opportunities for students to learn about the natural world.
- Provide natural history education for students and parents.
- Perform regular monitoring of the field trip site(s) to ensure they remain healthy and safe.
- Assist with maintaining the health of the surrounding land. (For example, removing trash or replacing plants as needed.)
- Maintain a clean, orderly site by cleaning up after students, maintaining a stocked supply of food and supplies, maintaining a clean vehicle, and following all safety procedures.
- Maintain communication with parents to ensure their child is learning in a way that supports their interests and needs.
- Communicate with colleagues regularly to ensure trip success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience leading outdoor programs including hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, etc. preferred.
- Experience working outdoors in all weather condition
