Travel Softball Coach

Athletic Republic Knoxville Softball is looking for qualified softball coaches for two new teams (10u & 12U) to coach and demonstrate softball fundamentals and game concepts.

Athletic Republic Knoxville will be sponsoring 2 teams and we are looking for the right coach to develop and enrich the experience of our players.

Prior travel softball and/or college softball playing/coaching experience is desired.

This will be a paid position during the two playing seasons (fall/spring) with hourly pay in sessions in between the two seasons.

Athletic Republic Knoxville Softball is about creating a positive environment to learn softball skills and advance the game of softball. We believe that their mental development is as important as their skill development. We believe that in order to create an athlete that can compete at a higher level we must help them become confident in themselves while having fun in the sport of softball. As an Organization and Coaches: We have a 1a and 1b approach to our goals. 1A) Is the goal, of course, to develop our players' softball fundamentals and skills. We believe that it is our job to prepare our girls for game situations to execute on an higher level. We also believe that girls can only be held accountable for the skills that we have properly prepared them for. 1B) While developing softball skill, our 1B goal is to "Preserve Their Joy". It is just as important to us that our players continue to love the sport of softball while learning. It is not our right as coaches to instruct or correct in a manner that can extinguish their joy of the game. It is our job to find positive and constructive ways to TEACH the game of softball. We will commit to each player even as their skill levels are different within the teams. Our goal is to develop each player regardless of where they started. We will motivate our athletes by encouragement and support never by fear, guilt, or shame. For the parents: Notice in our above statements, we didn't start with wins? If that has you really bothered already, maybe this organization isn't for you. We plan to compete and we plan to win games. That being said, we will not trade our players' experience and joy for $7 tournament rings. Maybe this is the part that doesn't get talked about enough. Parent evaluation is as important to us as player evaluation. Let's be honest...some parents can ruin the travel experience. We're not looking for those parents. We are going to spend A LOT of time together at practices and tournaments. We will set up tent cities. We'll have big food tables to feed everyone. We may be World Series tailgating champions. We're looking to build a family environment for our parents and players. If you know the exact position, batting order, and playing time for your child then we may not be the right fit. Our parents will cheer for the success of every child, even if that means their child is on the bench at times.
