What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Performance Trainer position at Athletic Republic Portland?
The Sports Performance Trainer will be responsible for leading Athletic Republic programming for high school and youth athletes. The trainer must have experience coaching, training, working with kids, a basic understanding of human physiology, and the energy to motivate and encourage groups of athletes.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct athletic republic training protocols for small groups and team training, providing an engaging and energizing experience.
- Contribute to keeping the center clean and organized, supporting the Center General Manager as directed.
- Contribute to SportsLab's overall goal of fully taking care of an athlete under one roof by considering an athlete as a whole person and ensuring the training is appropriate and productive.
- Hours: 3:30-8 pm to coach 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm classes of high school and youth athletes.
Requirements:
- A degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human biology, or a related field.
- Completion of Athletic Republic internal education within a month of accepting the job offer.
- Experience coaching or working with youth athletes.
- Work as a personal trainer is helpful, but not required.
- Full time trainers must have a CSCS certification- for any candidates interested in working with us full time eventually.
Compensation and benefits
- Hourly rate for classes begins at $20/hour.
- Personal training is compensated on a 70/30% revenue split whereby the trainer retains 70% and the center retains 30%.
- 3% simple IRA match
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Choose your own hours
- Evenings as needed
- Weekends as needed
- Year round work
