Description :

The Athletics are currently seeking a Baseball Communications Assistant. The position will support the Baseball Communications Department with execution of gameday media relations duties. This position start date is negotiable based on the experience of the candidate and will run through the end of the 2025 baseball season. Previous experience in sports information and / or media relations is preferred.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and distribute pregame notes; update statistics, lineups, press clips, and press releases.
  • Prepare statistical packets, assist with news releases, and handle daily written collateral for media.
  • Assist in all aspects of press box operations including daily press box setup.
  • Compile minor league reports and write postgame notes.
  • Conduct statistical research projects to support media and Baseball Communications staff.
  • Assist with player relations duties as needed.
  • Other communications duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Previous sports information / media relations experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of AP Style and experience with proofreading preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines; ability to plan and prioritize well.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe InDesign; experience with Adobe Photoshop a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball statistics, terminology, and rules.
  • Familiarity with baseball statistical databases and search functions.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Professional writing samples required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred.
