The Specialty Alloys & Components (SA&C) business is both a chemical processing and metals processing business within ATI. We partner with customers around the world, in a diverse set of growing markets, to deliver quality materials that can operate under the most extreme and critical conditions imaginable.
SA&C is transforming, with an opportunity to double a 70 year business in the next 5 years, given significant influx of capital stemming from government investments in critical materials as well as capital investments from key customers. The nature of our business and customer base is also evolving at an unprecedented pace; we are experiencing significant increase in the complexity of our customers and offerings with growth in electronics and medical, along with defense and space. While most of our business is in long-term agreements, SpaceX and other aerospace, defense, electronics, and medical customers are challenging us to adapt and take a transformational approach.
As we continue to capture new capital and market opportunities and adapt to rapidly changing customer needs, our commercial strategy and customer relationships will be paramount to our success and continued growth. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic commercial leader who brings a deep understanding of heavy manufacturing, our industry, customers, and important nuances in our space including the regulatory environment, to partner with our leadership team in leading the change necessary to capture the significant opportunities in front of us at this unique time. This leader will be critical in the longer term as well and will be considered a potential successor to other key executive leadership roles across ATI.
