What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Clerk position at Atkins & Pearce Inc?
The Packaging Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day packing of material into stock. In addition, he/she is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the material going into stock.
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:
- Perform quality work in a safe manner within a production standard either with or without direct supervision.
- Interact professionally with coworkers.
- Work effectively within a functional group.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for effective communication (5 1) and coordinating work efforts with other employees and departments.
Daily Order Fulfillment, Inspection & Packing:
- Retrieve material from production area.
- Inspect material prior to packing, make boxes and box inspected reels.
- Inventory entry of material into stock.
- Move material into storage racks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Provide Support:
- Make boxes and inspect material for packing.
- Box reels and place material into inventory and stock.
- Return empty reels, etc. to suppliers.
- Retrieve skids from storage and stage.
- Perform data entry for inventory.
System Maintenance
- Perform yearly inventory of all finished good items.
- Remove boxes not found in inventory.
- Communicate with production department concerning orders.
Miscellaneous:
Operate the following industrial motorized vehicles:
- Forklifts… A sit-down fork truck to transport and retrieve materials on skids.
- Cherry pickers… A stand-up lift that raises the operator off the ground in order to replace and remove material from overhead creels.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED
License / Credentials / Certifications
- A forklift license is required for most Packing Clerk job responsibilities. Some tasks may not require a license.
Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate concisely with other departments.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and ERP is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Hours / Environment
- Working hours are 40 hours a week. Schedule is Monday through Friday on 1st shift. Additional hours may be required periodically depending on shipping demands.
Tools and Equipment
- Computer, scanner, general office equipment, forklift.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to stand at a workstation and work a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to frequently lift boxes in excess of 50 pounds.
