Position Overview
As a FEMA Reports and Communications Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in evaluating and recommending repair or replacement methods for disaster-damaged public infrastructure.
Your technical expertise will guide recovery efforts and help communities rebuild stronger, more resilient systems.
Position Details
- Location: Various locations in South Carolina, Tennessee, & Georgia (TBD by FEMA).
- Pay Rate: $25.00/hour (working 50-60 hrs/week) $25,000 per diem (approx. daily M&IE).
- Classification: 1099 hourly contractor.
- Contract Length: One (1) year commitment with options to renew.
- Travel: All travel expenses covered, including flights, car rental, fuel, hotel accommodations, and daily per-diem allowance for meals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect operational data and provide analysis to PA Management.
- Recommend changes or enhancements to service provided based on analyses.
- Produce reports based on queries generated from requests for information from internal and external audiences.
- Produce ad hoc reports as requested from internal/external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship, and must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in disaster fieldwork or field of expertise; a graduate level degree or professional registration with 2 years of experience in disaster fieldwork or field of expertise; or 10 years of experience in disaster fieldwork or in field of expertise.
- Must be proficient in generating general and technical reports, briefings, correspondence, and compliance documentation.
- Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing to coordinate with others and formulate letters in response to correspondence and inquiries from internal/external stakeholders.
- Should have familiarity of the PA Program to act as a representative and to interface with other program personnel.
- Should have thorough knowledge of PA eligibility, law, regulations, and policies.
- Should have the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and rapidly identify and recommend solutions to issues, concerns, or problems that may arise during product development.
- Should have knowledge of Federal, State, and local government organizational structures and relationships related to emergency management programs.
