How will you contribute to the team?
- Manages staff and subconsultants, coordinates workload, and directly supervises and mentors the project controls team as a subject matter expert.
- Works with scheduling staff to develop, manage, revise, and update integrated detailed project schedules, including all phases of project execution.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills to handle a complex organization with divisions that may not be consistently aligned in priorities and direction. Must consider the context of each group's priorities and influence change to meet organizational goals.
- Possesses a strong P6 scheduling background, with the ability to develop and track multiple project-level schedules in a program-level environment. Establishes a project work breakdown structure that aligns with the organization's goals, objectives, and tracking needs.
- Understands and utilizes robust datasets to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Participates in the development and improvement of project controls systems, recommending enhancements in systems, tools, and methods of project controls and project management.
- Collaborates with senior project management staff to manage overall program management goals, focusing on achieving objectives.
- Produces forecasts of total project costs, annual costs, and monthly cash flow costs, providing variance analysis and explanations based on cost-loaded schedules.
- Manages the Risk Management process, including driving the identification, evaluation, mitigation, and management of risks.
- Assists in coordinating engineering and construction activities in line with overall project schedule requirements, incorporating contractor schedules into overall project schedules.
- Ensures all contract deliverables and deadlines are met in collaboration with senior project management staff.
- Provides senior-level general project management support as necessary (e.g., financial/operational budgeting, consolidation, analysis, forecasting; business development; pricing; billing; key client/consultant relationship management).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc): Work involves coordination, research and problem solving on a variety of major projects with unique or controversial problems, the solution of which has an important effect on major organization programs.
- Decision-Making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error): Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Acts independently on technical matters.
- Work direction given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given): Supervises and/or coordinates with other senior technical and support staff.
- Internal contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization): Interfaces with project managers, project directors, business directors, senior technical staff, technical managers, and administrative staff and managers as necessary.
- External Contacts: Required interaction/relationship with others outside the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus ten years relevant experience. Must have strong cost management, scheduling, and project planning, as well as the communication skills necessary to interface with external departments within the client organization, the management team and other organizations within client organizations.
- Prefer PMP – Project Management Professional (PMI) or Professional Scheduling Professional (PSP).
- Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
- Being a collaborative, team player, that can navigate direction from various groups that are not currently aligned.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills. Must have thorough understanding of different types of contracts (Design/Build, Design/Bid/Build, CMGC, and Progressive Design/Build) and its implications on Project Management and overall project risks.
- Working knowledge of industry standard software and ERP, Planning & Scheduling, and cost management applications.
- Experience with Primavera is required. Must be adept at managing large dataset, preparing trend curves and performance dashboards and performing statistical and financial analysis in MS Excel or equivalent solution.
- Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
