MDB Tester Wirer - Assembly Box Department

AFC Cable Systems, a part of Atkore International, currently has an opening for 1^st Shift (Box department) MDB Tester Wirer in our New Bedford, MA facility.  This position will be 7:00 AM – 3:30PM, Monday through Friday, however training may take place on any shift.

The Assembler will perform repetitive workstation or assembly line operations to mass produce components or to assemble those components into a completed product.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Perform any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools
• Operate chop saw cutting flexible metal conduit to specified lengths
• Pull multiple lengths of electrical copper wire through conduit
• Cut & strip wire using manual hand tools
• Crimp electrical contact onto wire ends using hand tool or automated crimp machine
• Perform close-in assembly work in manufacture of connector assemblies
• Operate any equipment needed to perform job
• Report any quality control issues to supervisor
• Work as individual or team environment
• Perform related duties as needed by supervision

Qualification requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 1½ years Assembly, Machine Operator, and/or manufacturing experience
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematic diagrams
• Ability to follow written, verbal, JDE work orders, Drawings 
• Maintain 5 S Housekeeping 
• Fill out Daily sheets properly with part numbers and job names.
• Pay attention to detail
• Maintain a clean & safe environment

Physical demands and abilities

• Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Frequently required to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
