What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Inspector I - 3rd Shift - $23/hour plus $1 shift premium position at Atkore?
Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Quality Control Inspector I – 3rd Shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) to be based out of Pueblo, Colorado. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Control Inspector I will be responsible for performing quality control tests and inspection of product and determines root causes of any quality variances.
What you’ll do:
Quality Control Inspector I’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain quality by periodic inspection of daily production throughout the plant using various measuring devices
- Accurate and timely performance of various quality control tests per shift based on Standard Procedure
- Verify elbows are produced within acceptable standards for radius and diameter
- Verify swedge production meets all standards
- Prepare samples for conducting various tests according to Standard Procedure
- Procure equipment calibrations as required per procedure. Report to supervisor any equipment malfunctions or other issues which need correction
- Perform Reporting on compression testing
- Properly dispose of all test samples and/or raw materials used in testing
- Maintain accurate historical testing results in an organized fashion
- Confirm all testing equipment in excellent condition. Properly clean and maintain each shift
- Follow Hold Tag procedures
- Disposition product as to rework or scrap when necessary
- Work with customer service to address all customer complaint issues and provide resolution
- Maintain open communication with co-workers, shift lead, and supervisor to ensure continual operation
- Perform routine and light maintenance tasks as directed by management
- Responsible for housekeeping in assigned area
- Perform routine tasks as directed by management
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent
- Two years previous Quality Control experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and experience troubleshooting, problem solving, and identifying quality issues
- Good understanding of math skills required for quick and accurate counting, calculations and measurements including radius, inside and outside diameter, length, temperatures both Celsius and Fahrenheit
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Plans and schedules work as needed, prioritizing tasks, and anticipating needs to accomplish all tasks and minimize testing backlog.
- Works reliably at a high level with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail, accuracy, time management and organization
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Zero safety incidents in past 90 days of evaluation date
- Less than 15 attendance points on the date of evaluation
- No documented warnings within 90 days of probationary period
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- General knowledge of part numbers
- Firm understanding of QC testing and reporting

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $23.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
